# Discernment Project
1. Brainstorm
* **General:** I'm unsure of what which college I would like to attend. Many of my decisions are based on a some stressfull timeframe which will set the course for the rest of my life. If I make the _"wrong"_ decision about this it would either put me in debt for a long time or I would not learn as fast as I would need in order to get into the job I would like to do.
* **Friends:** I think I could discuss this with Ella, some of my friends in the industry, and my parrents.
* **Mentors:** Xavier, Ms. Coleman, Otakar
2. Create Space
* **What is your IPU (Important Life Question)?** Which college should I accept if I were to get into all of them?
* Pick 3 of the Quotations and journal on the impact of the quotations process of finding a question OR possible answers to your question.
* I find the process of needing to choose things quite difficult. This is probably part of the reason why I find these long big decisions difficult and probably part of the appeal to learning about making choices. I Always have found that if there are more than 5 options or open ended options or a long term consequence. Regarding the quotation I find it interesting that the giving up of decisions leads to others to manage your time. I also find that thinking somethings are things I *Have to do* are different from those to *i choose to do* is quite an interesting concept. I do not entierly agree with it because there are soem activities that one needs/has to do such as sleeping, eating, etc but I guess you can choose *when* you get to do them. It is also reassuring that there is no such thing as umlimited options as I am soneone who likes to opperate in a finite space. It is also interesting that the ***options*** can be taken away not ***decisions***.
* Something that I laso need to start doing on my decisions on a more regular basis is weighing off the trade offs on what making one decision from another might do. If for example regarding my college decision if a college that is more expensive but has better programs in my field of study is that worth the extra money to get a competative edge in credentials while incuring more debt? These are some of the trade offs that unfortunetly need to be bade in the price-to-credentials spectrum. Unfortunetly this isnt something that will directly answer my question above but it is a *good tool* for getting closer to that decision.
* I feel that this selection process is something that is very similar to my process of weighing the trade-offs because the decisions made in the trade off create criteria that are used for making the final selection. However I do enjoy that analogy for the hardware store tool. If something isn't directly relevant to what your want to be focusing on, considdr not usign it or distancing. A great cook probably doesn't want to become a master home builder because they arent related in gaining that original goal of what the cook wanted. Regarding my decision for college I need to decide if what in my field of study I want to focus on and what would peak my interest as my curiosity pulls me along.
3. Personal Prayer (Do 5 of the 7 questions)
* **What do you love?:** I love building things for people to solve their problems and make their lives a little simpler. (This generally makes my self lean twoards computer science and then a little of buisness)
* **What are you good at? (and bad at?)** I find that I am good at quickly learning something that peaks my interest and then ca focus until I have achieved a decent mastery at it. One thing I am bad at is dealing with the the communication and scheduling.
* **What does the world need?** From the breif market research I have done the current trends of the market seem to point that the demand for programmers will grow 15-20% year over year. which means that I there is a clear need for services of developers as we fully explore the digital revolution.
* **How do possible answers to your IPU question make the world amore Garden-like place?** I belive, that just like the example of the IT support guy, that my fully exploring the world of the digital we can further the growth of human development. Making a more educated, prepared, and growing populus of people while learning how how to better utilize our resources across the globe.
* **What Are the open doors in your life? (be specific)** I find that one of the open doors is clearly college and academia where I could discovern new theoretical ways to make computers whirr, while one of the others is I could join a large company (corperate cog) and work on projects that will no doubt reach thousands of people, OR I could go the startup route and explore some new ideas that the world hasnt ever seen before and help share those.
